I'm curious what people here might think on the subject of stay at home parenting after having a child, and who should work for the family. Classic practice is for the man to continue working while the woman stays at home to care for the children. With the recent big issues in media with gender roles and gender equality, I'm curious what everyone's take on it.

Being raised in an old-fashioned style, I prefer a family unit in which the father/husband provides for the family financially, and the mother a housewife.

When I was born, my father was already retired and my mother was still working because she was a lot younger than he was. I enjoyed being a "Daddy's Girl" and relish the time we spent together. Ultimately, I think it is whatever works best for the family. My daughter is a stay at home mom and her husband works.
