Does anyone else here do freelance writing for a living? Do you work for content mills or private clients? Or do you write for a combination of both? I do a combination of both, content mills and private clients. I like writing for private clients better than content mills, however.
What content mills do you write for? Where did you find your private clients? Which do you prefer, content mills or private clients?

I have been a freelance writer for several years. I, too, prefer private clients. I believe the connection with a person with a vested interest in the product is more rewarding than churning out content for a mill.
Some people prefer the mill experience, but I really like either emailing, chatting with a person who might have certain preferences or ideas rather than just wanting content to fill a site.

I so agree with you about that. I too like the personal connection rather than writing for the mills. Mills don't pay as good as private clients either.

I've written for both content mills and private clients also. Currently, I'm working on a couple of books to publish on Kindle and possibly other self-publishing avenues. Does anyone else write their own books, either fiction or non-fiction?

I work from home as a freelance writer. I do both, content mill work and private work with clients. I prefer having private clients, but sometimes I need a little extra each month so the content mills help me make ends meet.

I also work as a freelance writer and editor, and I do love it. I started at the content mills, but I now have a nice balance between a private proofreading client and editing and writing for "mills."

I write for a few websites and I've also worked for a client. I prefer to write when I feel like writing and I don't work well with datelines and a fussy client. So I prefer content mills over private clients because of the freedom to write on whatever I like and whenever I feel like writing.

I am still new to freelance writing. Currently I am writing articles for Helium, which seems to be a great starting point.
At some point in the future I am hoping to start writing for private clients. Until I feel I have reached that point I am going to continue writing for content mills.

I am currently writing for a private client. So far, I don’t have any problem. But, I also want to try writing for content mills to find out which will be more advantageous.

I am new to freelance writing and have only written for content mills. So far my favorites are Blogmutt and Article Document. Both pay and have a variety of topics to choose from. The editing process is easy and the work is steady. I recommend both if you want a nice way to supplement your income.

I am not a full-time freelance writer yet. To be candid, I don't aspire to become one. I am more of a part-time freelance writer. I have my own blog which is about gaming. It keeps me busy for the most part of my day.

I enjoy writing books and self-publishing them. To supplement the way royalties can change, I make ends meet by writing for content mills. I like that I can choose my own hours at any time.

I write for some content mills, however, I've leaned towards doing more of what I want lately. I blog, and I just completed one book of a trilogy I anticipate publishing soon!
