Why do we still use Facebook despite the fact that we know they sell our information and monitor whatever we're doing as long as a tab is open to Facebook? I think if we had known all this before we started using it so frequently, we never would have started. What do you think?

Many of my school friends went to live in other cities, even to other countries. Through Facebook I could find many of those friends and now we are in constant contact and from time to time we have nice conversations.

I use Facebook to connect with my friends. Since peoples in my country use facebook like crazy, it is easy to search and find my old friend. By using facebook we can also earn money. Even we can not get rich by doing it. But it is enough to add your income if you know how to get it.

I believe people have varying reasons and motivations for using Facebook. Some want to remain connected with family and don't have time for old school conventions like the weekly phone call or monthly letter. Lots of people have reunited with childhood friends they would otherwise have never found again. Business exploits these desires and plays in the pool too, using Facebook as a catalyst for commerce. It probably wouldn't be a reach to suggest at least 70% of those regular users are fueled by the instant gratification aspect. If you can receive positive attention immediately, you will keep returning to that source for reinforcement. It makes people feel good to believe others enjoy them enough to "like" a status update. As long as the system continues to serve, the user will continue to use.

I actually stopped using Facebook about a year ago. I got bored with it and there are so many personal security issues that I no longer felt safe using it. I keep in touch with my friends via the old fashioned phone, and texting, now.

I discovered recently that I have passed a Facebook event horizon, so to speak. I use it to keep in touch with so many of my friends and family that if I do not post often enough, people begin to wonder if I am dead or have joined a cult.

This is a terrific question, I occasionally deactivate my account once and awhile, but for some reason I always go back. I think I like it because I can keep in touch with old friends and see what's happening in their lives.

I use Facebook to share and to keep in touch with friends and family. Life is a little hectic sometimes and Facebook is an easy and quick way to keep in touch as well as share fun or special events and pictures with people I want to share with!

Facebook is the most unique and effective social networking tool to communicate and share information with our friends around the globe. Once connecting your friends on Facebook profile, there is no need to maintain any formal mail conversation. Applications like My questions are also helpful for some intelligent insight.

Some people use Facebook because of social pressure or expediency, but the overwhelming majority of users were looking for something much more fundamental that was social connections. Facebook had emerged as the best, most accessible, and most efficient way to maintain bonds with others.

Although facebook has detrimental influence and issues, I still use it because its actually changing the way people communicate. I myself i use it to stay connected, as a news source, for personal connection, networking and advertising.

I keep most of my personal information off of Facebook, such as my address, phone number and any other sensitive information. Using Facebook is a way for me to communicate with people and family that I have moved away from.

For all of the reasons listed by the original poster, plus more, I do not use Facebook. I reactivate my profile every now and then, but other than that I avoid the website like it has something that I am likely to catch!

Facebook, much like many other things has it's pros and cons. Yes, they sell our information, but so do many other things. We are always being watched and monitored. In this day and age, it's basically inevitable. When we go shopping, we are not only being watched to make sure we don't steal, but to study our shopping habits. In many cases, our eyes are even being watched. The silver lining to this cloud is being able to keep in touch so easily. If an old classmate from first grade pops up in your mind, you can search for them on Facebook. I have found long lost friends, people I've cared for deeply, thanks to Facebook. The key is to not give them too much of your information and don't be so quick to hit the like button. Be very particular about what you comment on, post, and like.

I use Facebook to connect with my friends because my friends are living in different cities. I also connect with my families or cousins in Facebook because I meet them in a function or party only so I always updated from my cousins where he lives or what are doing.

I agree, I sometimes wish I didn't even need to use Facebook. But the fact of the matter is, today, it is just about the only way to find out the stuff I should be finding out from a phone call or in the news. I do not get on Facebook like I used to , just for the fact of so many of my friends and family posting stuff that otherwise should not even be on Facebook or anyone's business. I can not count how many times I have logged on and found out someone had passed, or what the local weather is going to be like before I ever got a phone call or flipped on the tv. It is pretty sad that our society has turned Facebook into something more than just connecting with old friends.

People use Facebook because it is one of the leading social networking sites. Moreover, the site has a large database of users. It used to be a hangout site for friends who want to chat with their classmates and fellow friends, but now both young and adults alike has their own Facebook page not to mention the advertisers and businesses who created their own Fan page account or introduce their products via Facebook Ad program.

We human beings always want to express our feelings to others. Some guys do it in a large scale (to masses) through posts and status and those who want to share their emotions with a single person or some close ones, they do it through messages.

For many reasons. To talk to friends, to find some old friends, to relieve boredom, to post pictures, to watch funny videos, to read different news etc.

People use Facebook to connect with friends and family, while some use it to relieve boredom. People are social animals and have a feeling to belong. so facebook has created a great platform for people to express themselves and meet new people with common interest.

I use Facebook simply for the fact that it is the most popular social media platform, and all of my friends use it. In 2006, I used Myspace because everyone else used it. Perhaps another social media platform will take its place in a few years.

I basically use Facebook most of the time to either share a funny video I saw on the internet, or upload my family, or pet pictures and to wish everyone on Facebook Happy Holidays for each Holiday, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or 4th of July. I also use Facebook because some of my co-workers use it and my sister and I talk on there and send e-cards.

Facebook is user-friendly. You can catch-up with family and friends, locally. Or, you can be informed of worldly current events.
Connecting with those friends; co-workers, classmates, and like-minded groups, is a cool and practical, Facebook plus (as well). Sometimes addictive; however, cool and practical.

I have a love/hate relationship with facebook. I am beginning to find it very invasive as far as the information that is out there. I have removed all personal information and do not even post my birthday because I don't want them to know. I use facebook and have family on there. I also have real life friends that I have known for a long time. I do not add people I don't know and I try not "like" any products out there as well. I sometimes think there is too much information about us out there.

I have created many pages at Facebook. Facebook allows me to spread my ideas. Campaigns at Facebook are very cheap and effective. I have new likes and reactions.

I check Facebook every day for about ten to fifteen minutes. It helps me keep up with friends and family. Over the years I had lost contact with many close friends: Facebook has allowed me to reconnect and catch up with them.

Personally, when i joined facebook it was for social purposes. This was until two years ago when i started using it to sell my old items and advertise my business. This has helped my business grow and i would not stop using facebook due to this benefit.
